Is Metaverse The New Frontier For Restaurants?
16/6/2023
Food brands and restaurants are starting to explore what the metaverse has to offer. So what is metaverse? It’s a 3D virtual reality world where users interact with the environment via avatars. In other words, it’s an interactive virtual world.
In a recent PwC survey, 66% of executives reported that their companies are actively engaged in the metaverse, and 82% said they expect metaverse plans to be part of their business activities within three years. Employers are also offering employee training in terms of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) options.
In PwC’s survey, 36% of executives said they plan to use the metaverse to create virtual content for customers to engage with. Coca-Cola is a leader among food and beverage brands in this area. Coca-Cola celebrated its one-year anniversary in the metaverse by launching a new digital collectible. People who own these collectibles can enjoy special perks, virtual events and early access to new launches.
Popular fast-food chains are also taking to the metaverse, with the opening of virtual locations on Facebook’s metaverse. The possibilities are endless. Whether you’re a food brand looking for new ways to meet consumers or an industry supplier incorporating digital tools into your offerings, the metaverse has something to offer.
